Sublimation process and the role of sublimation paper

Sublimation process and the role of heat transfer paper

If you run a digital print business, you know the importance of design print. Your client rejects the bad design printed on the material. How can you lower the rejection rate?

You calculate the rejection rate from the total rejection from your clients to the total delivering results. If your clients accept your design, you earn more profits.

In my experience of running the sublimation business, I can tell you the transfer paper's quality may impact your printed design.

And that's why I always prefer the S-Race vivid 120 sublimation paper.

What is the sublimation printing process?

It is a process of transferring the design on any material surface.

It requires three things;

  1. Heat
  2. Pressure
  3. Ink

In summary, you can transfer your design to your material surface when applying the correct pressure at a specific temperature.

The sublimation ink has the property of converting into Gas at temperature. And its molecules get absorbed by the material surface - if coated - at the correct pressure.

The whole process depends on the transfer paper. If you do not use quality paper, your design does not print on the material. Or you may get a dull print.

What is heat transfer paper?

It allows heat to pass through without burning its content. It means you can put anything on the surface, and it receives heat from the source.

Transfer paper has many uses in the digital print industry. You can use it in apparel printing, packaging boxes, rigid material printing, and many more.

You can notice that transfer print quality is the main factor in deciding the right transfer paper. If you get dull quality, your client rejects your printed products.

The comparison

I took an ordinary local sublimation paper and an S-Race sublimation paper for my comparison.

The following things are the same for each test;

  1. Micro pp 180 GSM white t-shirt.
  2. Temperature setting 180 degrees celsius.
  3. Pressure.
  4. Multicolor design.
  5. Epson 180 printer.
  6. Sublinova ink.
